Have you ever seen a dress that you weren’t so sure about until you tried it on for yourself? That was my feeling about the Watch And See Dress by Ellie & Mac and I don’t mean that in a bad way. I have a pretty standard and streamlined style (IMO) but I trying to step out the box more and after seeing how this dress fit, it’s something I clearly need to be doing more of!
The Watch And See Dress
The pattern comes in two lengths–tunic and dress. I chose the tunic length to make for my test.
Pattern Construction
Ellie & Mac patterns have moved to no-trim pages and this should be celebrated!!! Piecing together the pattern was easy though it does take up a lot of space. Because of the asymmetrical design, you don’t cut on the fold but have to cut two mirror image pieces for the main part. I️ recommend assembling on the floor unless you have a lot of table space.

ce cut out this pattern pieces together super fast. Like 15-20 minutes fast.
Fabric Choice
Fabric is pretty important for this pattern for it to hold its shape properly. I can’t tell you what I used but it was perfect. Mine was 4-way stretch but light. You definitely want to keep your fabric a pretty light knit. Knits that are heavier in weight will drape differently, which is cool if that’s your thing.
Styling
Styling this piece is key. In the tunic length it pairs perfectly with some leggings and boots. I went with over the knee boots and love the look. As a dress I could see this pairing nicely with some booties.
Rating
This pattern gets rated a 4 out of 5 needles!
